I build products end to end — interface, data and the code that ties them together. Two case studies below: an onboarding app for newcomers, and a transit dashboard built for the City of Vancouver.

My capstone. A guided checklist that walks newcomers through their first months in Canada, from a SIN number to healthcare. The information already exists on government and community sites, but it arrives all at once and in no particular order. Arrivalio puts it in sequence and tells you what to do first.

A redesign of the City of Vancouver's public data dashboard, built with a classmate. The original showed everything at once with no hierarchy. We wrote personas, found that a resident checking one transit or housing number needs almost none of it, and cut about two thirds of the charts.

how the work gets made
Research
Both of my main projects started here. On Arrivalio the testing changed the product: people did not want a flexible system, they wanted to be told what to do first, so the whole thing became a guided checklist with task dependencies.
Interface
Newcomers open settlement resources on a phone, so Arrivalio was designed at phone width and grown from there. Layout, type scale and state coverage get the same attention as the happy path.
Build
React, TypeScript, Tailwind, with Firebase or Supabase behind it. On Arrivalio the building and the designing happened at the same time, so the design kept getting corrected by what the code did.
Motion
This site and my last one both run on GSAP. Scroll reveals, the marquee above, the timing curves. Everything has a reduced-motion path that skips straight to the final state.
who I am
Vladislav Kovalenko, full-stack developer in Vancouver.
I graduated from the Front-End Web Development program at Kwantlen Polytechnic University in May 2026. I grew up in Kazakhstan and came to Canada as an international student. Arrivalio came out of that: I built the thing I could have used when I landed.
I do the research, the design and the code myself, so a decision made in Figma does not get lost on the way to the browser. I use AI tools to move faster on layouts and debugging, and I say which projects used them.
